Welcome to Leaping Forward, a practice that provides therapy services by Roni Dhaliwal. I am so honoured that you are considering me to work with you. Managing your emotional, mental, and spiritual health can be challenging at the best of times. I am here to walk with you on your path toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
The stories we tell ourselves influence how we: perform in relationships; view ourselves, and make sense of our experiences of the world around us. I use a narrative approach, which is effective in helping process topics such as: trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, addiction, depression, and family of origin challenges, amongst others.
I am conscientious when working with oppressed people. I have learned a great deal about how social justice issues like racism, gender discrimination, sexual orientation, and ability can impact us all. I am willing to consider the impacts of each if we determine they are an essential part of your story.

Taking the first step to start therapy can be scary - and that is why I try to make all appointments as comfortable as possible. I believe that therapy works best if we are able to build collaborative relationships with the people we support.
THR stands for Trust, honesty, and respect. It can also stand for Truth, Healing, and Reclamation. I am hopeful that in our work together, we develop a Trusting, Honest and Respectful relationship; so that you can discover your Truth, Heal from past wounds and Reclaim your identity.
I work from a non-judgmental perspective. I have been told that I am highly patient, and when people do come to see me, they leave feeling heard. I believe in the fundamentals of my company, THR Therapy Ltd. I am excited and honoured to work with you on your path toward freedom.
You will have the opportunity to learn about me before your appointment and I encourage you to ask questions about anything you feel unsure about throughout your therapy process.

I have been working with Indigenous peoples since 2008. In 2014, I took a greater interest in Indigenous medicines. They provided me with much insight into who I was. As part of my medicine journey, I began partaking in ceremonies. During a sweat lodge ceremony in 2021, I requested that I receive my spirit name, from the trusted Ojibway elder, that was leading the ceremony. The elder told me that spirit would guide him in naming me. While entering the sweat lodge, the elder spotted a small brown frog trapped within the grandfather rocks. These rocks would later be used to heat the lodge. The elder amply helped the frog free itself from the rocks, so as I entered the lodge, the small brown frog was exiting. The sweat lodge ceremony was incredibly healing.
When the ceremony was completed, the elder began naming others that had also requested that they be given their spirit names. I found many of the names to be impressive. When my turn came, the elder explained to me that the brown frog that was trapped within the grandfathers represented me. In turn I was given the name “Brown Frog Man”. Initially I did not like the name I was given. I wanted a more ferocious sounding name like “Screaming Eagle” or “Big Bear”.
